Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring a plus one?
We are thrilled to celebrate our special day with you and would love to have everyone join us. However, due to limitations, our guest list is specific. Your invitation will detail who is invited, including any plus ones. Should you have any questions or need to discuss this, please feel free to reach out to Ava Almstead at (586) 565- 0038. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to see you there!
Can I bring my little ones?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children at the weekend’s events. If you are staying at any of the accommodations listed on our website in the ‘Accommodations’ tab and would like assistance finding a sitter, please contact office@houseof-luce.com. Otherwise, we recommend that you contact your accommodations and ask for guidance and recommendations.
Where should I stay?
We recommend staying at one of the accommodations options listed on the ‘Accommodations’ page as all of these options are within walking distance to our wedding venue and all of the weekend events.
If you wish to find your own accommodations, it is highly recommended that you stay in Sorrento. Taxis within the towns along the Amalfi Coast can be hundreds of Euros each way and Uber and Lyft do not operate on the Amalfi Coast.
We love the idea of having all our guests take over the town, rather than scattered in different locations. The joy of bumping into friends at a local café or while strolling the streets is part of the charm that led us to choose Sorrento! We envision creating a sense of togetherness and lasting memories in the moments between the events. We hope you keep this in mind while choosing the place to rest your dancing feet!
That said, if you are booking your own accommodations, we recommend staying in the mapped area provided on the Travel and Stay page.
To coordinate hotel and Air Bnb shares with other guests, we recommend joining our Whatsapp Group to coordinate: https://chat.whatsapp.com/HRevU96alymF50pA9ijkck
How long should I stay?
We recommend staying August 23 - 26 to ensure you don’t miss any of the events! Keep the itinerary in mind, we have the welcome dinner on Friday, August 23rd, the wedding on Saturday, August 24th, and a full day of boating and beach club on Sunday, August 25th.
Where exactly is the wedding venue?
The wedding is at a secret location to be revealed. It is at a historic villa on the coast in the center of Sorrento. Once the summer home of a Roman Emperor, the villa and gardens have been exquisitely restored by a legacy family. This villa took our breath away with its secret gardens, historic marble sculptures, art and relics, and vast ocean views. We felt this was the perfect place to say “I do.”
Should I rent a car?
The town of Sorrento is designed for leisurely exploration on foot, with all our event venues conveniently within walking distance or a quick ride away, a car is not needed and may cause some inconvenience. Additionally, driving along the Amalfi Coast can be quite challenging and nerve-wracking due to its narrow, winding roads. (We did it. Never again.) Parking in Sorrento is also notoriously scarce and difficult to find. We've specifically chosen this location for its accessibility and the ease of getting around without a car, ensuring that once you're here, you can move around effortlessly and enjoy the celebrations to the fullest!
How should I get to Sorrento from Naples Airport?
There are plenty of ways to get to Sorrento from the Naples Airport! You can opt for one of the car services listed on the Travel And Stay page. The total journey time by car from Naples Airport to Sorrento is 45 minutes.
As for taxis, they're conveniently located just outside the arrivals area near the exit doors. Look for the designated taxi stands or queues; they're well-marked and easy to spot. Keep in mind that during peak tourist season in August, taxi fares from Naples International Airport (NAP) to Sorrento can be unpredictable. Expect to pay €90 to €150.
You can take an Uber from Naples Airport to Sorrento. However, it's important to note that Uber isn't available for rides from Sorrento to Naples, as the towns along the Amalfi Coast do not permit Uber pickups.
There is also a ferry from Naples to Sorrento. You will need to taxi 10-15 minutes to the port, but this is a great way to avoid traffic as well as experience the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast.
If you choose to take the train to Sorrento, you'll need to travel from Naples Airport to Naples Centrale Station, and then take the Circumvesuviana train into Sorrento. The total journey time by train is 120 minutes and the cost for a one-way ticket is 3.6 €.
To coordinate ride shares with other guests, we recommend contacting our transportation service listed on the “Travel & Stay” page and joining our WhatsApp group to coordinate with other guests.

Can I get to Sorrento from Rome?
If flying into Rome instead of Naples offers you better cost savings, there are several options for reaching Sorrento from Rome.
The journey by car or bus typically takes about 3-4 hours and can vary depending on traffic. While there are various shuttle and private transfer options available, it's not recommended. Instead, we suggest taking the train if you're arriving in Rome.
From Rome Fiumicino Airport, catch the Leonardo Express train to Roma Termini, the central train station in Rome. Then, board a train to Naples (Napoli Centrale) using Trenitalia's high-speed trains (Frecciarossa or Frecciargento). Upon reaching Naples, transfer to the Circumvesuviana train bound for Sorrento.
If you're arriving at Rome Ciampino Airport, take a bus or taxi to Roma Termini and follow the same train route described above.
The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes from Rome to Naples and around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Naples to Sorrento.
Can I take photos or videos during the ceremony?
We kindly request that all guests avoid taking photos or videos during the ceremony and ensure their phones are on silent. We deeply value having an undistracted, shared experience with you during this special moment. We hope to see your smiling faces as we walk down the aisle and share our vows, rather than screens. Rest assured, for those eager to see photos or videos of the ceremony, our professional photographers and videographers will happily provide them afterward!
What are the dress codes for the events?
You can find the dress code for each event on the Itinerary page.
We made mood boards for each event should you need inspiration.
What is the weather like in Sorrento in August?
In late August, you can expect temperatures ranging from around 24-28°C (75-82°F) - perfect for enjoying the beach and exploring the town. Days are typically sun-filled with a slim chance of rain, so it's ideal beach weather! If you want to take a dip, the sea is wonderfully warm at this time of year. Keep in mind, weather can be a bit unpredictable, so it's always wise to check the latest forecast as your trip nears. But overall, late August is a fantastic time to be in Sorrento!
What’s the scoop on my passport?
Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from your planned departure date. We don’t want you to find out at the airport that you can’t enter the EU.
